The Coppell, Texas family shared their experience with Anderson Cooper and his mother, Gloria Vanderbilt.  LaNelia candidly states, “Somebody that takes their own life has nothing to do with wanting to die. [David Le Prince Bio written by Father/Manager Pat Luyeye]

13YR OLD SENSATION OUT OF IRVING, TX.

David Luyeye (AKA David Le Prince) was born September 21, 2000 in Dallas, Texas.
His mother, Michaella Bonose Luyeye, is from Paris, France, while his father Pat Luyeye, better known as “The Genius,” is of African descent from the Democratic Republic of Congo. At age 3, David moved to Paris with his family, where he resided for 6 years, developing a strong international background. It was in Paris that he learned French. By age 6, David was already teaching himself to sing by watching and listening to Michael Jackson, Usher, Chris Brown, and numerous other singers on You Tube. How could such an amazing talent emerge with no formal training? This could only happen because David was truly a natural. In 2010, when David was 9 years old, his family moved back to Oklahoma City, OK. His dream was to become like Michael Jackson, so he asked his father for help. His father said, “I want you to be a man after your own. Nevertheless, you can model after Michael Jackson and other music icons.” Pat Luyeye gave David his first laptop and showed him how to use media contents like YouTube, VIMEO, and MySpace, so he could learn more about melodies, harmonies, style, and dance. In spring of 2010, the American Mall Model Talent Search was held in Oklahoma City and audiences enjoyed David’s Michael Jackson style footwork. He was signed as a Young Model, but soon after the family relocated to Dallas, Texas.

In June 2010, David Le Prince-along with his brother “Tim Fresh” in the background, recorded and released his debut demo album “I Need A Friend.”  It’s no surprise that David’s debut album created a strong buzz in Dallas, Texas, in his local community, and among friends and family. “Dance, Dance,” “Rock, Rock,” and “Broken Dream” were recorded on his father’s underground record label “LUYEMPIRE”. These songs were written by Bishop Young Don (Songwriter for Jay Holliday, Genuwine) and co-written by Pat Luyeye “The Genius.” David Le Prince’s sound is broadly inspired by the early Michael Jackson years, Usher, Chris Brown and B2K. But it is described as unique, classic R&B with international French flavor-thanks to David’s time spent in Paris, France. With help from Hip-Hop choreographer Fenton Fulgham, founder of The Revelation School of Dance in Dallas, Texas, David Le Prince’s goal is to be one of the youngest R&B performers/singers of our time.

In the summer of 2012, David’s father (whom is also his manager) began to develop David Le Prince as a new crossover artist, taking him to audio engineer and Grammy winning producer, Jay Lacy teamed with Multi-platinum songwriter and recording artist, Tami LaTrell in Houston, Texas. Together, they produced David’s latest single, “Where You At”. 2013 has proven to be a busy year for David starting with the February release of his video “Where you at” on You Tube which received over 100,000 views to date. The release of his follow up single “Girlfriend” received radio play in Connecticut, California, North Carolina, Illinois, Florida & Iowa. In March 2013 David was featured on FlossMagazine.com and Marketwire.com. In June 2013, David opened up for Jay Cole, Ace Hood & Juvenile, on the Dub Tour in Dallas and performed in several other venues in Dallas and NYC. David Le Prince is not just a 13 year old kid that sings in English & French. He is also a dancer, he studies piano, was the MVP point guard on his basketball summer games team in Irving, Texas, won 1st place in 50 meter dash in 5th grade, is an avid video gamer, draws, and paints.  In the future, David plans to learn to play other instruments, dive into the acting world and publish children’s cartoon books. He hopes to work with artists such as Willow Smith, Astro, B2K, Mindless Behavior, Justin Bieber and Usher. And while many call him “Baby Usher,” he prefers to be called David Le Prince. Just think, he will only get better and as he grows and so will his fan base.

Pro-Boxer-Tony Mack Wins Vacant Texas State Title

14 Apr

Super-Middle Weight Professional Boxer, Tony Mack Celebrates Defeating Fellow Texas Boxer, Curtis Howell at the “Fights at the Fair Grounds” Boxing Match Last Weekend in Dallas, Texas. The Champ was Awarded the Vacant Super-Middle Weight Texas State Title.

Dallas, TX, April 13, 2013 /Krista Kelley PR/ – – Last weekend, boxing fans gathered at the Dallas fair grounds to watch six boxing matches get underway. Professional boxer, Tony Mack featured on the fight card as the main attraction alongside his opponent, Curtis Howell. Fans of the fighter entered the coliseum proudly dressed in black or pink t-shirts with their boxing hero, Tony Mack’s name branded across their chests. The crowd’s attire clearly indicated Mack as the favored boxer of the night. With the vacant Super Middle Weight Texas State Title belt at stake, one might speculate that the professional fighter would be nervous before squaring up against skilled challenger, Curtis Howell. Trumping that theory are pictures and video clips of the confident prized fighter laughing, smiling, and conversing with his team moments before entering the ring.

Ready to rumble, both super-middle weights stepped into the ring for the scheduled six round match presented by J&G Boxing Promotions. During the first bout, the two took turns exchanging blows while gripping the audience with their elusive footwork. By the close of the first round, it was uncertain as to which fighter dominated, leading onlookers to believe that the match would be a nail biter. After a quick re-charge in their respective corners, the competitors returned to go toe to toe in hopes of winning the coveted belt and leaving the other with a canvas kiss. The Tour de Force was short lived, as defender Tony Mack swept the challenger, Curtis Howell into a restrictive position with accurate power punches to the head. The tower of strength, T-Mack gained more ground after Howell’s pawing jab provoked a devastating blow from Mack, forcing Howell to collapse against the ropes. Exploding into a solid jab-hook-punch combo, Mack’s tactics minimized Howell’s ability to counter. Mack captivated the audience with a knockout, triggering an outburst of excitement from spectators. The referee swiftly interjected to lend support to the defeated fighter, declaring Mack the reigning titleholder.

The champion secured the Texas State Title belt with only one minute and thirty-two seconds lapsed in the second round. Mack’s record now stands at six wins with zero losses and three knockouts. The two fighters admirably exited the ring with a respectful embrace. Immediately following the ceremonial merit, the vivacious victor obliged fans with warm-hearted greetings, handshakes, and pictures. Quickly emerging as a professional boxing hero, he thanked his loyal fans and took time to speak one-on-one, displaying a softer side of boxing. The congenial competitor redefines the image of boxing.

About Tony Mack:

Tony Mack is a professional boxer from Plano, Texas. The 5’10 boxer is currently fighting in the Super-Middle Weight Class. His amateur boxing career includes the USA Boxing National Championship where he was awarded the Bronze Medal, Five-time Dallas Golden Glove Champion, and Three-Time Texas State Champion. Mack also fought internationally in the USA vs. Great Britain Dual Match. He has six wins with zero losses and three knockouts.

D MAGAZINE: Dick Sullivan Picks The Bands That 2012 Made Him Care About | FrontRow- J.Rhodes

26 Dec

Dick Sullivan Picks The Bands That 2012 Made Him Care About | FrontRow.

We asked a question to two of our music writers: whether they released a great album, went on a tear with shows, broke through with national media, or otherwise impressed, what bands or musicians made a move that made us take notice of them in 2012? Here are Dick Sullivan’s picks. For Christopher Mosley’s choices, go here.

RTB2: Months ago, my fearless editor admitted to feeling “a little Ryan Thomas Becker saturated” by my content. Admittedly, my critical distance is probably compromised, but I will keep beating this drum until it breaks or someone takes it away. For Ryan Thomas Becker to avoid being on my year end lists, he has to stop doing things that make me care about music. It does not matter which criterion you prefer: lyricism, musicianship, showmanship. RTB2 hits for the cycle every time out, which is about once a week. This year, Becker and drummer Grady Don Sandlin released their second album of bulletproof rock and roll, so they remain top-of-the-heap.

A.Dd+: I am late to most parties, but especially the Dallas hip hop party. A.Dd+ is prevalent as a brand, but until I saw them command the stage at Fun Fun Fun, I had no idea how well they deserved the notoriety. Able to navigate rapid flows and engage crowds with their deft interplay, A.Dd+ is a rap duo I would be thrilled to bear the flag for Dallas hip hop.

J. Rhodes: I wanted a hip hop album rooted in urban Dallas, something at gut-level that told a local story. Weeks later, I discovered Oak Cliff Huxtable, an album about Dallas made by a native son. J. Rhodes is connected to a very capable production team, one that lent their talents to The Game’s recently released Jesus Piece. But for Oak Cliff’s sake, I hope Rhodes makes enough time to stay in the MC game himself.

Reverend Horton Heat: I already cared about Jim Heath, but 2012 enabled me to appreciate him within a new paradigm: that of the career artist. I think it is a shame that Heath is not more celebrated outside rockabilly circles, especially considering how strikingly his own talents veer into other genres. But knowing that Heath is fine being the somewhat-appreciated-old-guy casts him in a new, enduring light. He is no longer a worn token of the Sub-Pop days trying to battle young bands for air time. Heath is rather the amiable patriarch of Dallas music, still picking at his guitar, quite content to still be playing a gig somewhere whether you know about it or not.

Bad Design: Bad Design’s cagey math rock scratches a particular itch that almost no other local band can reach. The music is both sophisticated in its agility and vulgar in its forcefulness. Add to that a signature voice from Steve Altuna and you have an unrepeatable alloy of promising music.

Sarah Jaffe: As the saying goes, nobody cheers for Goliath. In her steady rise to notoriety, Jaffe has her own share of detractors. But despite my associate’s suspicion that Jaffe is “too big to fail,” I maintain that, for the time being, she is simply too good to fail. No, Jaffe’s latest album, The Body Wins, is not as pioneering as some of the hyperbole-throwing media claim. But the album is good. And for all I can see, Jaffe is handling the accolades and popularity with grace while acknowledging the musical community that raised her. That is a rare combination and I give Jaffe credit for living up to expectations.

Satans of Soft Rock: Tony Ferraro is such an effective utility player in the Denton scene – Hares on the Mountain, Danny Rush and the Designated Drivers, The Last Joke – that you might forget, or never knew, how  excellent a songwriter he is. With Satans, Ferraro gets to continue flexing the pop-song-writing muscles he developed with the now defunct Eaton Lake Tonics. With new songs like “Satanic Verses” and “Diaspora,” it is clear he has not lost his touch for composing catchy lyrical hooks.

Daniel Hart: Hart is another product from the Polyphonic Spree machine. The singer/violinist is about two national tours and a million record sales from being discussed with the same reverence as fellow ex-Spree member St. Vincent. But if the arc of Daniel Hart’s career can mirror the baroque grandeur of his debut album, The Orientalist, he just may get there.

Atomic Tanlines: No, it is not the glorious afro or Ally Play-Nice’s reckless stage presence (when she can keep herself on the stage). Nor is it that such slam-dancing chaos is elicited by four kids who look too young to vote. All of that helps, but what makes me doubt my conviction that punk died with Jerry Nolan is actually Pablo Trill’s throwback guitar work. He seems to channel something of the punk genesis that often eludes others, capturing its rawness and excitement with nuance instead of bombast.

Cerulean Giallo: Here is my sly declaration of relevance slipped into a list of safe ones. Cerulean Giallo would have escaped my attention too if not for their Violitionist session. The bass and guitar duo may be a tough sell with a formula of caterwauling vocals reverbed over 10 minute jams.
